Almost ten years ago, Karen discovered the wonder of cruise vacations when she took a cruise with her 91 year-old mother and her 22 year-old daughter. They loved the variety of things to do across the generations. They loved unpacking once and waking up each morning in a new port with new things to do and places to see. They loved the wonderful food -- the quality, the abundance, the availability, the variety, the atmosphere, the presentation (you get the picture). They loved the shopping, the casino, the lounges, the shows, the classes, the games (yes, they found a friend who played Settlers of Catan!!).
Another thing Karen found that she wasn't looking for was that most of the passengers she met had used travel agents to book their cruise. Of course, Karen had done all the booking by herself online, as she has done with all their vacations. Well, she discovered that those who went through agents got a lot of "perks" that she didn't get. They had onboard credits, special dinners, special parties and other amenities available to agents only.
Contrary to her instinct, it was clear that using an agent SAVED money!! The traveler doesn't pay any additional amounts to use the agent, but rather has access to additional benefits. As everyone knows, Karen hates being wrong, but she admits it this time.
In fact, she is so convinced that using an agent is the superior way to book a vacation, that she and her husband, Gene, decided to become travel agents. Through careful diligence, they decided to join the Cruise Planners franchise. Cruise Planners is really the industry leader and gives us access to buying power and "clout" that would take years and $millions of sales volume to match.
